Analysis of counselor and client verbal response interaction in self-analysis process using sandtray: Focusing on play therapist trainee

Abstract
This study was analyzed the verbal response interaction to clarify the sequential dependence of verbal response between counselor and client. With regard to contents of verbal response interaction, client talked about thought that comes into mind or feeling when she sees the works created and symbolized in sandtray at the initial phase of counselling for self-analysis. The objects of the study were as followed: First, compare initial verbal response of counselor with that of client. Second, analyze the verbal response interaction between counselor and client. Study subjects are 7 clients and a total of 15 cases, that is, the contents of initial phase, 1st, 2nd and 3rd session of counselling were analyzed among the counseling of self-analysis process that consists of 10 sessions. With regard to study results, the response of counselling that makes the clients reach the 1st awareness stage when analyzing the verbal response interaction between counselor and client was closed question, clarification and self-disclosure; open question, encourager, closed question and clarification at the 2nd awareness stage; open question, encourager, clarification and self-disclosure at the 3rd awareness stage; clarification, open question, self-disclosure at the 4rd awareness stage. Response of counselor that made the client reach the level of insight at the initial process of counseling was confrontation, restatement and self-disclosure.
